Killa Shrimp

This is a modified Ultra Shrimp.I took the idea from the original Ultra Shrimp. It has different materials but deep down this shrimp has Ultra Shrimp roots. One of the guides I fish with in Belize named it the Killa Shrimp. The prototype accounted for several permit and several big jacks.

Tied on Gama SS 15 hook (these photos are 1/0 to accomodate the foam). I tie it on smaller hooks with no foam.
Mono thread
Rubber legs (Rainy's barred round rubber)
a bit of rabbit
homemade eyes (glass beads on 40# mono, covered with tuffleye flex and Hard as Nails)
Farrar flash blend (1 sparse layer)
Rainy's float foam (round, medium)
EP shrimp dub brush
Farrar flash blend (a final heavier, longer layer)
weed guard
Tuffleye flex or CCG

Hey!!! I really like the style. Also, like the coloring in the second photo. It's definitely a Killa.... :D

I'm not familiar with the weedy places where you would use the pattern but can't help but notice that the weed guard is on the point side of the hook. Even tho the fly design looks like it might ride hook point up.... :confused:

Since you've already tested a protoype, I have to assume that you've worked that out already. 8)

Darian, hook point down. There is a piece of float foam under the carapace. This is for fishing turtle grass and coral flats in Belize.
