I took a trip over to the east slope for a few days and had me a GREAT time. The weather was nice, the trout were on the bite, and the company was really quiet...since I was by myself!
I fished a well-known, but yet shall remain nameless, east slope stream for two days, catching plenty of rainbows and browns, first on nymphs, and once the baetis started hatching, on dries with a Tenkara rod. FUN! Here's a sampling of some of the locals I caught up with (pun intended).

This last guy, in full spawning colors and a slightly kyped jaw, I caught on a PT nymph, released him, and caught him again about two minutes later! Either he's really dumb, really hungry, or I tie great PTs!
This thing liked my GRHE. Can you say UGLY?

Here's something we could use a bit more of around here: RAIN!

Even so, the local peaks had a nice dusting of the white stuff, but its usually a lot deeper up there this time of year. Man, I love the views on the east side!

I fished another stream on the first and last day, found another guy's fly box, which I am trying hard to return, and I later drove north for a couple of hours and fished another stream that I often ignore, but I wanted to give it a try. The water was really low and the trout were in super-skinny water and sipping on something tiny. I threw everything I could think of for over an hour with no luck, but it finally dawned on me to try a PT with a greased leader. First cast: BAM! A strike and a break off. I tied another on, made a few casts and then hooked into and landed this nice chrome rainbow

I caught two more trout in about five minutes, the last one being this sweet sixteen inch brown...with my first PT fly stuck in his lip! HAH!

I hope this trip will tide me over until I can wet a line again...
Enjoy and cheers!
