Finally made it to the Chetco last weekend. Me and two other guys got skunked. We were swinging flies and nymphing with indicators with 13 foot leaders and tons of weight(as another poster stated on another thread, they are a bitch to cast). The water was low which made the fishing tough, even the gear guys were struggling a bit. We fished three full days from south fork down to Aflred Loeb and never saw another fly fisherman.

We camped at Alfred Loeb State Park which has a really nice campground. It rained all night sunday into monday when we had to pack up camp. What a muddy mess. Still drying stuff out in the back yard.

Two weeks ago the fishing was great as the flows were at 4,000 cfs and dropping.

Friday morning we got a late start, must have been the beer and wine thursday night. We counted 15 trucks pulling drift boats heading up river passing our campsite, lots of boats on the river.

The river is a beautiful piece of water to drift and fish and I would defintely go back.
