Had a customer in today who has the bad habit of stripping his fly line out down and over the line guard in an extreme reverse angle.
Look at the photo below of the shinny place on the bottom right of the photo where he has cut through the anodized black finish of the reel into the alloy cross bar.
This is caused by hold the rod up right while casting and stripping down ward to get out more line for making a longer cast.
In a short time, less than a year, you new fly line will start to crack and come apart from the extreme friction.
