Well I set up a camo curtain for a hide and hung a feeder in the north 40 of the new property. I had incredible action with chickadees, finches, pine siskens, cardinals, a couple gold crowned kinglets, nuthatches, 4 species of woodpeckers and a hawk that zoomed thru to check out the action.

This was the best action Ive seen since Ive been in Wisconsin. There had to be close to 100 birds that visited the feeder while I was there. Its been a very unusual winter here. 43 degrees yesterday. Highs in the low to mid 30's for the next 10 days!

Theres two pairs of cardinals working this part of the property

This is a gold crowned kinglet. He was so curious, he came behind the blind with me to see what was up.

All the other birds were the usual suspects and the photos were pretty redundant.

jbird,
not familiar with kinglets; have to look them up. I personally think the female
cardinals are just as good looking as their male counterparts. Continually amazed
at how many species winter-over. Thanks, as always.
Best,
Larry S

Thank you Larry. The kinglet is a warbler type. This is my favorite avian family because they are so diverse and come in every color of the rainbow. their behavior is really interesting and are a real challange to photograph. It was cool to see the kinglet is here in the winter. The majority of warblers will be spring migrants and summer residents.

This particular female cardinal is a pushover. she come right out in the open. Her boyfriend is a lot more aprehensive.

The contrast of the red cardinal against the snow is awesome. But I want to see more woodpeckers!
