I finally got one on one of my favorite flies at Stinson. He may be little but I caught him.

It is a Mayan warrior that Ken tied for me a couple years back.

'atta boy Scotty nice going. A buddy down in San Diego uses the MW quite a bit for surf zone success. He ties it in a size #4 (can't remember the hook he uses though).
A little photoshop work and that fish could have been much bigger ya know. I'm o-n-l-y kidding!
Cheers, Ken

Scott,
That looks like a fairly heavy piece of leader or maybe a bite. What pound test leader are you using?

Ken hanely's "Mayan Warrior" fly is popular in the tropics for baby Tarpon and Snook but could be used for many other types of fly fishing.

Tony, for surf fishing I use 20 pound mono leader with a triple fly rig using dropper loops for the flies, you never know what might bite.

I'll be in San Diego in 3 weeks for the fliflicker fishout in the bay and will be using the mayan warrior there as well. It needs to catch some bay bass and hopefully a halibut. Last year it caught tons of those crazy lizard fish.

I just moved to San Rafael and was thinking of giving it a go. Lord knows there's no rain in the forecast and Steelhead where I want to go us closed. Any tips?
