Male Wood Duck's are wonders of color they even have silver on
their wing primaries!

They are so beautiful.....

When I was young they had closed the season on them because their numbers were down.

Now with all the guys who have built and put up nesting boxes in the sloughs they are back in large numbers now.

We have to thanks these guys who made and put up the boxes....I know some of them.

Very nice! I enjoyed the captions. Always fun to tell a story with photography. This species has eluded me despite dense populations. Ive seen hundreds of females but still havent gotten close to a male.

When i was a kid growing up in Fair Oaks I was in the boy scouts, and we built and put up wood duck nesting boxes along the river between Sunrise bridge and Ancil Hoffman. Pretty cool to see the birds now!
