Hey guys. Well since getting back to California last week I have been having a good time chasing birds around with my Nikon. I am pretty new to real "wildlife" photography but have been having a very fun time. Thought I would share some shots...

Sweet Loren!! Especially love the first one. Nice sharp subject in a sea of bokeh :-)

Did you get the D7000?

Love the picks of the one legged birds!!! Yes I know they actually have two before anyone says anything.

Loren:
I spend a lot of time while surf fishing looking back toward the birds. One
favorite are the sanderlings - the hummingbirds of the beach.
Good work and thanks for posting.

I was watching those little ones on the Atlantic surf in Florida last month.

They run like a wind up toy.....

Definitely neat little critters....I never paid enough attention to them.

These shots were taken at Limantour Beach, Bolinas Lagoon, and the Vallejo Marsh.

Nice shots Loren. I bought a d7000 when i got back from AK this fall and love it. Great AF system and very sharp. What lens are you shooting with? Keep up the good work.

thanks guys.

Jason: those shots are a combination of the Nikon 28-300VR and the Nikon 70-300VR. I picked up the 70-300 in a package deal for a hell of a price and it is a great lens for its size and cost, its main advantage over the 28-300 being that it doesn't have "focus breathing" so at its max focal length it really is 300mm and not something like 250mm like the 28-300 is. That being said I can't afford to keep both with the obvious overlap so will be selling the 70-300 since the 28-300 is such a versatile lens for fly fishing and walk-around purposes, even though the 70-300 is superior for bird photography.

If anyone is interested in purchasing let me know!
