A large school of stripers pushed the threadfin shad into a corner this morning, the stripers and the threadfins were between 20-40ft. of water, and about 20 boats were working the school with jigs, the catching was good for them. I worked the outside edge for a hour with out a grab before the school moved. After a little looking around i found the school had moved to 15ft of water, and i worked this school for 45 min's all by myself with out a grab....i felt like a FAILURE. The stripers are there, you just have to find them, and get them to grab.
This is the corner

It turned out to be a snagged carp, we caught a couple of nice black bass in the weed beds. The stripers are still there in the deep water chasing the bait ball around.

The "Port of Sacramento" by the Fish Sniffer Magazine:

http://www.fishsniffer.com/dbacher/081013portofsacto.html

"the port really gets going from November through March when the stripers move into the port to feed on the big schools of shad that congregate here."

I sent a note to the West Sacramento Historical Society, I'll let you all know if they have any history on the 'cat house'.
