Marilyn got a big Crappie on a small popper with her Sage 'Blue Gill' outfit this morning.
She was casting off the dock behind our little place in Sebastian, Florida.

Nice looking crappie, I wish I knew of more places around here with crappie. They seem to elude me so far.

Clear Lake, northwest of Sacramento a few hours, was always famous for Crappie in the early spring but I have never stopped to fish it.
We have always caught Crappie accidentally while fishing for bass.
When I worked at a bait shop over 40 years ago in the early spring we sold lots of live small "crappie" minnow for bait.
Crappie occasionally get over 3 pounds which is a nice game fish on a fly rod.

Way to go Marilyn, that's a slab of a Crappie. Lake Amador has a good population of Crappie as well. Stripping in some white/ yellow buggers should do the trick.
