The current and hottest water craft craze on calmer waters are the Standup Paddle Boards or SUPs.

A safer/saner, less expensive and more comfortable and easy to SUP or fish, is the Freedom Hawk 12 with its pontoons in the Y position.

Standup paddle boards for fishing sell for close to 2k. You and your expensive fly fishing gear are on top with minimal if any protection from waves and other water problems.

So if you aren't a rich young daredevil acrobat, a Freedom Hawk 12 is a safer/saner and less expensive way to standup and paddle to fish. $700 can buy my like new FH12.

The bottom two pictures show the Y position for the pontoons: http://www.outdoorplay.com/core/media/media.nl?id=13420&c=436469&h=2d6712ef49921d72e20d

The FH 12 can be easily paddled with any Stand up paddle, one end of a two bladed paddle or you can pole it in the shallow waters off local tidal rivers, in a pond, in a protected lake or the flats of Bodega Bay.

You have a lean bar to lean on and to cast from. There are storage areas in the pontoons.

I have used this Yak to surprise LMB in vineyard ponds. Just put it in the water and paddle out and let it drift or anchor it. It is easy to fly cast with the lean bar raised. I push it out past the moss and cast back to the edges of the moss. The LMBs are used to people casting from the bank and not from out past the moss.

The adjustable stabilizers can be easily removed and put back on. This allows you to load the 9' main body easily into the back of a pickup or on a top of a vehicle with yak bars. I have a Ridgeline with the short bed, and the FH 12 without the pontoon stabilizers fits in the bed with the tailgate down. I put one stabilizer on each side of the yak, and we are off for fishing. The 9' main body only weighs 49 pounds for easy handling.

The Freedom Hawks make great Duck Hunting platforms. You can tow or paddle it to your general hunting area, get in and paddle or pole it with your dekes into a tough if not impossible area for power boats. Anchor or stake it out, and throw out your dekes, put some camo over the yak and call in the ducks.

My Olive Green FH 12 is a little over 2 years old and in excellent condition. It was not used last year due my wife's recovery from surgery. It has been replaced with a Freedom Hawk Bass Yak Pathfinder. I will sell this Freedom Hawk 12 for $700.
