Got a new river raft and will be floating the American in a week or two. I've fished the river the last couple years but have not used a boat, and I'm looking for some tips.

Are all the access areas to put in and take out safe for leaving vehicles? I remember reading on this forum about some problems in the past. Maybe there are some access areas I should avoid?

I'm thinking of putting in at lower Rossmoor and then start fishing after passing the Ancil Hoffman powerlines. I'm also thinking of taking out at Howe or Paradise. The river is currently 2600 CFS, but I'm not sure what the float time would be. We are going after steelhead and would mostly be wade fishing.

Thanks for any advice.

Charlie G would park his vehicle on the residential street after getting his boat in the water. It would be shuttled from there. I was broken into at Watt and Charlie when I was with him at Rossmoor. Most valuable item taken in either break in, my Kelty pack with my favorite worn out henly and some old underwear! They left a Sage 7 wt., TFO reel and numerous flys in my car.
