My loving wife suggested I go fishing on sunday. I am planning to leave Saturday night, sleep in the truck and fishing my old stomping grounds of the Chico area on Sunday morning. (I'm coming from Martinez)

I used to fish the spots down hwy 45 from hwy 32, one of my favorites was rd 48 near that mennonite school but the last time i went it was closed, is it still?

I also enjoyed stopping at rd 29 for shad and stripers. I had some great times there too.

I'm thinking of hitting ordbend park north of ord ferry rd, the big gravel bar above it.

Any suggestions? PS- I'd rather not catch fish - and fish alone - than catch some in a combat situation.

I'd really like to hook a salmon on my 9wt but anything will do.

no boat, have waders.

NF feather up Hwy 70 should be good. Feather down below Palm ave will get you away from the crowds.

Last time I drove by Rd 48 was locked up tighter then a tick. That's really too bad as it was a great shad spot

if you really want to fish the sac i would head north of chico not south...also several other good options in the area right now...
