Line weight question???

I am going to Idaho to hunt and fish next week. I am taking a couple of eight weights with floating line and I have sinking line for them as well.

My question is what is the consensus with using a 9wt with an intermediate line for wading swing fishing for steelhead? Am I asking for snags and trouble or is it a usable combination?

Take the floaters and buy a couple of different density poly leaders and loop them on your leader butts if you feel you need a sink tip.

Most use full floaters and sink-tip lines for Steelhead upriver on long rives.

Having some fast sinking Poly leaders to add to your full floater is a good idea too.
