Really impressive Mike! That first shot is VERY special. I would consider water marking it for security...seriously

Thanks for sharing

PS Those darn Kingfishers are gonna drive me to buying a longer lens :-)

Subtle! Nice ;-)

Are you shooting in RAW Mike? What post processing program do you use?

No RAW yet! I'm havin' a hard enough time just operating the camera. I'm just usin' the Canon program that came with the Camera...tweakin' the colors and such to compensate for some of my stupid operator errors!

I hear ya. using these slrs to the peak of their potential is no childs play! If you end up getting a serious photoshop program and start shooting in raw, it is simply unbelievable what you can do to your photos in post processing. It takes a little pressure off of getting the "perfect shot" in the field. You can make serios changes to sharpness, exposure and white ballance to achieve almost any look you want. I run all my pics thru something called 'shadow/highlights' in Adobe Elements 9. It tones down the bright spots and lightens the shadows. It literaly repairs bad exposures!

Most slrs have a shooting mode that captures a RAW and JPEG of every image you shoot. It fills your card pretty fast but it gives you the option to play with your images. I always shoot in Jpeg+Raw

Anyway, youre doing great and finding some incredible subjects! Keep em comin!
