This year the salmon runs are up again after several very low years.

This is all we hear about every day. Anglers and guides are reporting very large returns of salmon in most Nor Cal rivers now.

Fly anglers who are after Steelhead in the Klamath, Eel and Trinity Rivers are accidentally catching salmon on flies too.

There are lots of salmon on all valley rivers now.

Some of the coastal rivers are getting salmon in their tidewater now too.

This has more to do with ocean conditions than anything else. Upwelling off our coast has been better for the last year or more according to biologist.

We destroyed the rivers 50 to 100 years ago with dams, ag and logging so the big variable now with the compromised ecosystem we have left is nature.

We are finally taking down some dams now which is something that I am excited about.

I have been told that Ag and industry uses about 80% of CA's water and they put our homes on meters. Pretty funny......

October/November is when we get our biggest runs here on the Lower American River.

Go to one of the local hatcheries now to see lots of salmon.
