Fished a nice tide at first light this morning on the North/West side of the Delta. Throwing 10wt. XI3s loaded with Rio OBS Floaters with PoleDancers tied on the end. I had Ed Cox (just back from our Baja trip) on the bow. We found fish first thing and we had 6 big blow-ups, 3 fish landed, a small LMB a nice 10#er and a feisty 6#er that missed the fly at first and then followed and ate it big time on the second try. Good Stuff ! Ed's first top-water stripers. Good work Eddie.

It was an awesome morning. Top water for stripers was a blast! :fish:

Maury definitely knows where the fish are!! Thanks again Maury!

I think there is more top water in the Delta in October.

A good rod like a Sage Xi3, a good line like a Rio Outbound Short cold water floater and good surface fly like a 'Pole Dancer' is the way to for Stripers top water.

I think early and late in the day with low light is good too.

I think low wind is important.

I guess a good tide movement helps.

Kevin Doran also says he like to be in shallower water too.

Oh My....I'll trade a bay trip for some of that.

Bill
all of the grabs and misses were in water that was only 2 feet deep and at first light. We were on the water at 6:00 A.M. and got to our first stop and waited for fishable light. Kevin D knows what he is talk'n about for sure.
