I have tried and tried to approach kingfishers with very little luck. Kingfishers and kestrels seem to bail before I can get anywhere near photographic distance. It is this kind of challange that builds obsessions :-) One of these days, Im going to set up a hide at one of the many kingfisher environments, bring my camera and a 6'r of Hefeweizen and just wait him out.

But today I got lucky. I spotted a hunting KF roadside and was able to creep into position in my truck (btw Ive tried this dozens of times and failed). I think he thought I couldnt see him cause he didnt bail! I clamped on the window mount and shot him for 15 minutes before he left the zip code. Shot a short video too for the helluvit.

Wow.......those are cool pictures.

Down in the Amazon Jungle we saw some kingfishers that we the size of a chuckar or hen pheasant.

Great capture of the backlit spider web in the first shot.

Great capture of the backlit spider web in the first shot.

There were lots of dew coated webs in the area.
