this trip was simply amazing

left washington state in time to get over the passes just before some snow and spent quite some time in hells canyon (http://www.fs.fed.us/hellscanyon/overview/index.shtml)fishing with old combat buddies and some great guides.

for those who have never been to hells canyon, it is actually the deepest and widest canyon in north america. it ranges from 10,000 feet deep and over 10 miles wide in parts. thats thats almost twice the size of the grand canyon.

we had about 7 boats all together and fished about 24 peeps and partied pretty hard at night. the fishing is fun but I would have to say navigating the rapids tends to be the treat for me. we were lucky enough to have a skipper that was willing to take us through the class IV waters (wild sheep and granite rapids)

overall it was a great time as usual, was on the fish every day while there and limited on salmon and steelhead every day with my smallest fish being 29 inches.

I am in the cowboy hat on the left, in attendance for this trip was a few rangers two special forces operators, and mostly infantry and parents of a fallen soldier.

this was my old company commander, the trip actually saved his life. he hadnt been out of the house for so long and was just drinking himself away. he looked yellow beyond belief. he went to the VA and had 3 pints of fluid removed from his abdomen that was turning him septic. the trip truly saved his life

then during the last few days I helped a buddy pack his elk out on horseback since he shot the damn thing in the bottom of a 5,000 foot hole of a canyon.

during that day my dog "cash" got kicked by one of the horses since they dont like dogs running underneath them. he ended up getting some pretty good trauma to his lower jaw on one side and sweeled up pretty gnarly. i think he will be fine after finishing his antibiotics for the infection and swelling.

in all, pretty good couple of weeks
