Carry on a net on a plane?

I am heading out to Reno in a couple of weeks and will have a few days to fish the North Tahoe area before I have to work. I figured out that I can pack everything in a carryon suitcase and a backpack but have questions about the net and rod tube. I'm know that I can get away with the rod tube strapped to the pack but wonder if the net clipped on is also OK. I worry that the combination will be too much. Any one have any experience traveling with gear without checking anything?

Hmmm,.... No experience with landing nets but have had no problem with rod tubes.... No room in the back pack :question: :question: Maybe you could stuff in the pack with the handle sticking out.... :-k
