I fished the Truckee both Saturday and Sunday for a few hours each day. On the first day, while streamer fishing, I got a grab from a big brown, but missed him. I tossed right back to the same place and he grabbed again and I hooked him. After chasing him downstream to a big pool and retrieving a bunch of line, the hooked pulled out. I landed a couple of 14" rainbows, one on a dead drifted streamer and the other on a soft hackle. I was using a big, 4" streamer, so I was pretty impressed the 14 incher was so ambitious!

The next day I landed this 20" rainbow on a stone fly nymph.

This fish came from some deeper and heavier water than I would normally expect a fish like this would hold. I guess it's hard to know what kind of cover they are holding in on the bottom of the river in deep, fast water. This fish was really strong and definitely tested my fish fighting skills. By the way, the water temp. was 58 degrees.
