Just looked at the weather for Sacramento and the high is going to be 88 to 91 degrees for the next 10 days.
Truckee, CA = 75-80
Santa Cruz, CA = 69-71
Bodega Bay, CA = 74-78
Mammoth Lakes, CA = 76-78
Normally in August here in the valley we would be getting over 100 degrees so many will take their vacations now and go to the mountains or the ocean to get cool.

We have prime time (Aug/Sept) Striper fishing in the Valley rivers like the Lower American, the Lower Feather and the Lower Sacramento. I think they have summer Stripers in the Stanislaus River too.
LMB in the Delta is good too. AM and PM is best but sometimes they are feeding mid-day too.
Smallmouth in the rivers are on the bite too. Aug/Sept is prime time.
Most lakes in the Sierras should still be OK.
Lots of trout streams have finally come into shape.
If you are headed to the coast I am sure that you could catch something over there in the surf.
Steelhead are coming slowly into the long rivers now like the Klamath, Rogue and Umpqua. You need to fish extremely early in the morning to catch them in the heat of summer.
