So far the diversity of birds has been a bit lackluster in my immediate area. Maybe I need to look further away or maybe its just the resident summer species. The spring migration should yield many more species.

Mcmillan Marsh is on the northern border of my town. There appears to be a heron rookery here.

Wondering if your neck of the woods has a white fly (Ephron) hatch. In mid-Michigan,
it's mid-late August into early Sept. With last summer's heat, the hatch was over
by the ides of August.
These guys come off the water at dusk and often complete their lives
within several hours. Blizzard-like conditions at times. A few can't shed the husk and
resemble a small bird in size.
I hope to catch the AuSable hatch in Sept.
Keep snapping pictures and swatting bugs.
