I'm going to be working in Eureka for a couple of days in two weeks and was wondering if anyone has any advice on fishable waters within about a half hour drive? I was considering Big Lagoon with the tube? Any advice appreciated, PM's welcome.
Thanks,
Dan

There is Klopp Lake at the Arcata sewage plant. Not gross, it is the final stage before water is released, and the trout are used as indicator fish. C&R, artificials only. I caught a few trout there in college, one was about 19".

Dan:
Some years ago, The California Fly Fishing magazine had an article about fishing the jetties-
probably near the power plant(?)
Think Dustin R might have some info about that area.
Stay safe!

Second on the jetty maodiver. I once caught the biggest salmon I ever caught on the north jetty fishing for black snapper. Came in at 25#. The interesting thing about the jetty is you never know that you might be tethered with!

The only thing I ever caught at the north jetty was a wave, back in my surfing days. COLD water and some funky currents at that place. I didn't stay out long...
