Fished in and around Franks for some more white hot top water poundage. Yesterday for the pm chomp and this morning produced good blow up's in all the fishy hang outs. I had a striper that looked 3 feet long follow my 8 inch dink to the boat. Water tested my PD knock offs and was very pleased. There's a 5 pounder out there with one firmly planted in its pie hole......bad knot.

Gregg the colors of your fly are great for a bait fish. Do you tie a weed guard on this or fish it as shown? Do you only fish this in open water or in and around weed beds? What tides do you fish this...moving water like for stripers? Do you fish it erratically to mimic wounded bait fish or rhythmically?

andanb,

That was my first go round with the 3PDGH-RT (shad) Rally Thong and will make some changes. I will tie in some weed guards. Its alot more complex then it looks and my hats off to Charlie for all his hard work. I fish holes in the cheese, weed edges and rock walls. Stop and go, rapid 6 inch strips all the way back to the boat all produce ups. Tides don't dictate where or how I fish, as long as its move'n I'm groove'n. PM me with your contact info and I'll fish ya next week and show ya what I know.

Greg,

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the points in your post. I really appreciate you calling your fly a pole dancer knock off. It shows that you are respectful of what it took me to figure all the nuances of the fly. There are plenty of other folks that do not have that degree of respect and integrity. Some have gone to market with duplicates that they claim are there own independent version only slightly influenced by the original pole dancer. That occurs to me as disrespectful. I feel like it is the greatest form of flattery when others want to copy something that you have tied because of it's on the water success.

Secondly , I also really appreciate your recognizing how tough a fly it is to get right. It was a lot of work to go through all the prototypes to get to something that was repeatable and could be manufactured. There were more than a few times I wanted to throw in the towel and walk away.

So thanks for all that and I am delighted that you have figured out how to make them and that you are being successful with your own version of it.Totally cool and best of luck with it for sure. Keep up the good work and keep us in the pictures.

Cheers Chas
