Unfortunately, I can't always plan my trips at the last minute in order to take advantage of ideal conditions. Instead, I take my trips when I can get them...which in this case was last week. My friend and I packed up the truck and shoved off late Tuesday night, returning even later on Saturday. That gave us four days to look for fish. With runoff now in full swing, everything was running high and fast. The fishing was tough but the scenery and weather couldn't have been better.

We fished the East Walker, Upper Owens, Hot Creek, and the Lower Owens. We also took a break in the middle of the trip and fished Crowley Lake with Dave Neal (http://www.reelmammothadventures.com/). If you haven't spent time with Dave then you are missing out. This guy has the lake WIRED. I don't think we ever went 10 minutes without a strike and those Crowley fish are HOT! Lots of doubles and a great break from staring at rivers going over their banks!

Great photos! Just curious, did you punch up the colors using P-shop or similar?

...the fishing report! We caught fish everywhere we went, but it wasn't easy.

We hit the Walker both on the way in on Wednesday and on the way out on Saturday. Picked up a few fish each both times.

Thursday morning was the Upper Owens and it was fairly high and fast, but we managed a few out of the slower runs. We hit Hot Creek Thursday afternoon and after talking to another angler we found out that the flows went from around 50 in the morning to about 250 by the time we got there. As a result, there were a lot of vegetables in the soup. I found a few swinging a caddis pupa but nothing very big.

Friday morning/early afternoon we caught more than I can count on Crowley. After finishing up on the lake we drove south to the Lower Owens. Fished this both Friday night and Saturday morning. Plenty of fish to hand, on a mix of nymphs and dries. Nothing notable in the size department, but a good time on the 3wt.

Saturday afternoon we drove north and fished the Walker again before heading home over 108. A few more fish and a great way to round out a fun trip.

Looks like a great time, fish or no fish what a place to get away from it all. I'm guessing that you must've run into far more people than those pics allude to, but don't spoil the illusion for me as it looks positively serene. Thanks for sharing, I'm gearing up for a little vacation time myself right now and your pics have just added a little fuel to the fire that's already raging...
I can't wait,
