Being out of school for the summer and dying to get in some dry fly fishing, I took a chance and headed up to the Deer Creek area last week. While I didn't catch any fish (or even see a sign of one), the weather and scenery were gorgeous. I did manage to get stuck in a snowbank for 15 minutes until I piled enough branches under my tires to get out. We may need snowshoes to fish the Sierras this summer. It did make a nice outing for the day and I posted some pictures below.

Wow nice pictures! I love the one with the sun beaming through the trees. It seems like I have seen that before but its the past memories with the picture that brings back the senses and makes me want to get out there and create more memories. Thanks for sharing and tight lines, well when the flows slow down!!! :fish:

Chem Doc:

Good to see that you are out and trying to get some fishing in. I love that Deer Creek area.
Very nice pictures.

Hopefully I will run in to you on the Silver Fork down the line when the waters slow down.

Thanks for the kind comments regarding the pictures. Photography may be my best chance of catching anything for a while. And Bob, I hope to see you there when the flows drop enough for dry fly fishing, say August if we are lucky!

If we're talking about Deer Creek east of Chico, I fished it last Tuesday. Fished below the falls with a friend down from AK. Where I was you could maybe manage a good 2 ft. drift with a dry fly! We tried beads for trout because we'd heard there were salmon that spawned in the creek. No luck. As soon as I switch to a little dark mayfly nymph, I started getting some action, but had to leave. Water temp seemed good for fishing. I'd fished the N. F. feather out of Chester the day before; water was cold! Too cold, I think. I'm no expert.
