Fished Tues afternoon. Saw a guy flyfishing Maple Ck upstream of the 101 bridge and thought I'd give it a shot for some cutts. Water was low, but there are some nice deep areas upstream aways. Didn't see or catch anything, so I made my way down to the mouth. The water is really low, so I just kept walking out until it was waist deep. Got literally half-way across the lagoon. Saw what appeared to be some good sized fish rolling. Latched on to a good fish which turned out to be a 21" steelhead. Got two other hp's around 16", then the wind came up and that was it. It was pretty cool casting to rising fish on the flats. No idea what they were eating, but they were definitely on something.
Saturday, took the tube out to the same spot. Nothing happening this time. Drove over to the north shore launched there. Water was dead calm, not a breath of wind. However, no sign of any fish rolling or chasing bait. Saw two small fish jump, but that was it for the day.
Water is nice and clear.
