I have officially been homeless for 6 weeks now. Man! I thought I was a bum before! All I do is fish and photograph :-) Thank God for true friends with spare bedrooms!

Amazing photos! You must have a long tele lens with a tripod, and fast shutter.

Jay,

What kind of camera and lens are you using? Really great stuff,
TONY

Great shots, as always. Seeing big flights of brown pelicans cruising the surf in
San Diego this spring. Some formations have up to 100 birds in them. Fun to watch them
break off and rocket straight down after a fish. Fishing Crowley next week which has
a good population of white pelicans. Lacking the head protection of the browns,
these guys cruise the shallows scooping up perch fry. Magnificent creatures both.
Kiene Forum has some great photographers that share their efforts.
Thank you all,
Larry S

Thank you guys!

Tony, Im using a nikon D3100 (a entry level camera) I have a couple nikkor lenses but my favorite lens is the new tamron pzd 18-270mm. I use it exclusively now. Its not my longest lens but the photo quality lets me crop in and I get better images than with the nikkors.

Jbird,

Amazing photos...wow.

I've come to love watching hummingbirds in my backyard
(bought a feeder last year) as post-work relaxation (with
beer in hand).

I find the range of colors to be incredible...dark red heads where
you can barely see the eyes, pink or red throats, etc. Haven't seen
any with the range of colors your pics have though. Too cool.

And they sure do go at it- frontin' and chasing each other for sipping rights.

This winter, I had one slam my sliding glass door. Thought he
broke his neck, but turns out he was just stunned. Put him in
my palm and he just sat there for about 10 minutes- then
he was off in an instant.

One of my goals is too figure out technology whereby I could
control a hummingbird and "sick" him on people I don't like.
:) After I figure that one out, then it's onto the Hummer Cam.

Thanks! I am living with my buddy Curtis who is a professional wildlife photographer. He has a bird paradise on his property. Weve been attracting in dozens of species and most of what we photograph is right here off the back deck. These pictures dont really even do justice to these birds. For a real depiction of these beauties, have a look at how Curtis captures them!
