Boca Lake is open, full, and fishy.
The boat ramp is problematic with the anti-terrorist barricade up on the dam..
You will need to drive in from prosser dam road. How nice.
Or shore launch. Weren't charging yet at campground. Soon though.
Eagles nesting in NW cove. Off limits. Feuding with Ospreys. A good show.

Stampeed is half full, and fishy.
Inlets are good.
Bugs are still small (Midges), surface water is 52 deg.
Snow on ramp still.
A quiet time up here, a little chilly for water ski/jet-ski now.
A good time to get tubular. Maybe tow a shallow rainbow pattern.
I caught a sweet 17 RB hen on a pinkbead eggsucking leach twitched/trolled.
They're just hungry.

"Barricade" ?! Is this new for this year? I was able to cross the dam last spring and get to the boat ramp and/or campgrounds in that vacinity.....

This is flat out silly.....Are talking Eco-terrorist? I didn't realize that Boca was such a high prized target.... :rolleyes:

I think the barricade went in 3-4 years ago.
They raise it when the lake gets full.
We all know those pesky terrorists want to take out Reno. (Regular kind, not eco type)
The dam would probably go, should van full of ammonia nitrate accidentally fall in.
The back road is open from P-Dam road, and has not been graded this year. (washboard)
Hobart mills is about the same. (pothole/washboard not 4wd)
The main road in to Stampeed is clear, but later this year, they are going to raise the dam.
I heard at that time the Hobart road will be the only access.
Martis has slightly different regs. I'll check today/tomorrow if the gate is open yet.
It is best early, before weeds take over the shallows.
These lakes warm up later, fish go deeper, fish early while they're up and hungry.
When it warms, I switch to bassin'.

The barricade went up right after 9/11. They had it up for a while then as terror alerts and terror threats were reduced they took it down. With OBL getting wacked the terror threat went back up and back up goes barricades on dams around the u.s. It may remain for a bit as the intel we got from the OBL lair indicates AQ is working on smaller targets in smaller cities as there is less counter terrorism efforts in a city like reno vs nyc, dc etc. The latest intel being released to the media also found interests in taking out a dam and/or poisoning water sources.

I say we live in a little time warp up here.
Hard to believe the barricade's been there nearly a decade.
Time flies when you have fun.
I make a motion, we make a temp ramp on the E. side we can access.
Volunteer labor, donated materials. Boulders/gravel.
That way we can leave the barricade up indefinitely.
Never give a terrorist an even break!

Martis lake is open if that moves you.
No grass growing yet, best time to fish it.
Great place for water fowl viewing at least..
