Today they don't make too many bad two-handed fly rods.

The big problem still is that many get the wrong type of line on their rod and/or in the wrong size (grain weight).

If you go on our Kiene's Spey Shop online store we have reel size and line type and size recommendations for all the rods we sell.

We also have full sets of Scandi and Skagit heads from Rio, Airflo and soon Beulah, that you can borrow to test cast on your rod down at the Lower American River.

This is like putting your hot rod on a chassis dyno for fine tuning.

These lines come in 50, 30 and 25 grain increments so you can get just the right type and weight line on your rod and to match your particular casting stroke.

We have the largest inventory of two-handed products with the most knowledge of two-handed casting/fishing in California. If you ask around you will find this to be a fact.

This happened to us because we are all old time steelheaders and we have the Lower American River minutes from the shop.

Jeff Putnam and Simon Gawesworth of Rio got us started some years ago and now we get more help from top Spey people like Dec Hogan, Mike McCune and Jason Hartwick.

We can help you get a state of the art Switch or Spey rod setup put together.

Locally Jeff Putnam can teach you how to cast it.

Then we have a list of top two-handed guides who can teach you how to fish with it.

Trying to cast a two handed rod with the wrong line is probably like spending your life with the wrong mate. I'm fortunate in both, with a great wife of 50 years this fall and two handed rods and lines that work together for me.

Bill has an incredible staff and very knowledgeable two handed rod people, who help him, his staff and his customers. Jeff, Jason and Terry have the knowledge and skill to help find the right rods and match them with the right lines.

Other excellent two handed rod/human resources in N California are Bob Pauli and Bill Lowe. Bob is a two handed guru, who is an engineer, and he combines those two areas into being able to analyze if a line is working or not for an individual caster. Bill is like a Sherlock Holmes of two handed rods/lines with his ability to match rods and lines and to analyze what you are doing re what is right or wrong.

Regardless of how good of a one handed fly rod caster/fisher and athlete, you are. Don't try the two handed game without expert help. Utilize the great local teachers/leaders we have at Kiene's and in this area.
