Took these pics on Friday but I fished here on Saturday morning 5:30 until about 9:30. Beautiful spot. Had the place to myself excepting one bait guy.
I made the mistake of heading north after this. Lots of fog and high winds and surf made fishing up there difficult at best. PB

Palm Beach at Watsonville. I thought Ken and Jay's surf clinic was here but by 6:00 it was obvious that I was in the wrong spot. I had a great time anyway. Anywhere on the coast is a good place to be on a weekend.

It was at Palm Beach. From the shot you have of the stairway, you went to Sunset beach. Had you driven straight down Beach road until it ended you would've seen a bunch of cars lined up.
No stairs at palm Beach, except for those who own the condo's

gs1Dad from the looks of your pics you went to Sunset Beach. We were at Palm Beach, which is the beach directly south of where you went. Palm Beach is actually directly off the dead end road named Beach Road.

Sorry to see that confusion. I hope you enjoyed the drive and time spent on the coast. I love that place.

First folks started showing by 5:00 a.m. Suited up and headed over the sand dunes by 6:15. Fishing started about 6:45.

We had 30 people show up. Lots of learning. Lots of experimenting. Lots of fishing. A couple of dunkings. Little catching -- two stripers and one perch.
Cheers, Ken

gs1dad, The reason I asked was I WAS at Palm Beach with Ken and the rest. Sorry you missed us. I would have liked to meet you as I actually went to Vacaville after the day's fishing (grew up there and have relatives).

Ken and Jay,

Thanks Guys!! I had a great time and added to my surf fishing knowledge base. The fishing was great!! (catching not so much). I didn't hear of anybody that got a perch. I know of the couple of guys that got schoolie stripers.

Ken would it be possible to email the group pic you took? jimmieam@wildblue.net

Again thanks for a fun day.

Here's the pic Jimmie. Sorry for the low quality image, it's a new camera and I haven't got it figured out yet (lousy operator error this go around).
Cheers, Ken

Again thanks for a fun day.

I caught it the first thing in the morning. It was about 8" or so. It was in that big hole Ken was describing. It was pretty far out too. Probably 50ft.

It was a beautiful day, and plenty of friendly ladies jogging on the beach too. \\:D/
