I have "inherited" a lot of old rod building stuff...cork grips, guides, handles...you name it. But I am not now nor will I ever be a rod builder and so a few of these things are mysterious to me. One of them being these "rubber" rings. I have several packs of them and they are marked "54/64" and "61/64", etc.

What are they? Any idea what they are worth? I have scanned ebay to no avail...

Thanks

I would say winding checks. Seems a little large for that though. Not a rod builder either.

Yup, winding checks. They are big tho. Did the person who had them make saltwater or surf rods? Are you selling the rest? Have a list? ;)

Maybe large.... Depends on when they were purchased and what the intended use was. If the purchase date was back when glass blanks with fast tapers were the norm, those winding checks weren't that large....

We've become used to current design of the lighter, faster rod blanks. It wasn't that long ago that fly rod blanks had a thick butt tapering to a thin tip and were much heavier. Think Fenwick glass rods.

These items are still usable. Just think outside the box for a current use....

Of course....!

Thanks.

I will put them up on ebay or here on the classified.
