Hello I fish mostly mid sized rivers but do plan on hitting the bigger rivers in my home state, maybe a trip up to the skeena before I kick it. So i have 2 sink tips as of now. They are cortland lc13 in 5 ft and a 10 ft chunk. well I think that for the size of rivers I fish as of now these are not getting the jb done. One time I was swinging a nice little run and snagged the sink tip and broke off my running line and had to get a little wet to rescue my head and sink tip. So what is the lc13 comparible to?? Was thinking of either getting some mow tips or just getting either t8 or t11 and make some tips 5,10,12 ft long. or what should I make?? Thanks

medium mow tips. they really do help your casting stroke, being that when you change your tip there is no change in length so that you can keep the exact same motion

LS is right on the money....

Mike McCune, Scott O'Donnell and Ed Ward are www.speywater.com guide service and they came up with the shorter Skagit heads and the MOW tips to balance with them.

I have been lucky enough to recently fish with Mike McCune and Jason Hartwick with the Rio Skagit Short system and Rio M.O.W. tips for Steelhead.

For fly fishing for Steelhead, especially in the winter months, this is a powerful system.

Get some T-11 and T-14 in the 30 ft packs. Make yourself 2 tips each at 12 feet long of both the T-11 and the T-14. This will leave one piece each at 6 feet long for a short tip, plus you will a backup tip in each sink type.

I don't know. The adjustment needed in your stroke isn't really that big of a deal. After a cast or two, you should be fine. I mean, you probably have to change your stroke more depending on how deep you're standing in the water. And that can change with each step you take down the river.

For the record. I use polyleaders (10 - 15 feet) and various lengths of T8 - T14. Like Double Ipa, I buy longer lengths and cut as needed.

p.s. I've used lc13 on my rod before and the difference between it and T is night and day. So much easier to cast the T.

LC-13 sinks faster than T-14. Probably even faster than T-17....
