Some of my favored Jay Fair colors were running low....like burnt orange, golden olive, etc. So i went down to the fly shop to replace the colors that i needed. I was looking at Jay Fair's Eagle Fly Fishing display rack for the color i wanted, the name's where there on the package but the luster, and the translucent color of the marabou were not there.
I stop for lunch today at a fly shop, and ran into Jay Fair, and we talked about some of his new products that he wants to market. I ask him about the color of his marabou that was lacking the luster, and the translucent color that made the flies that we tied come alive. I talked to Jay Fair 15 years ago about the dye process to get the color he wanted, so i kind of knew what's involed.....So Jay Fair lean's close to me, and said that the dye that i use is $67 a pound, and looking at the color of his new Translucent Product line you can see that......What do you think????
