Or "Carnac the Magnificent"...can't remember.
What are your prognostications about the upcoming trout season. I gots the shack nasties bad, and want to hear what you have planned, predictions for this season, etc. etc.
Now, I don't want to hear a "get out there now and fish the _________ for ________, they are biting like crazy!!" (unless you have good intel on current crappie bites, but that is for my dad, and a whole nother story)
For instance, I predict that the water in the sierras/cascades will only get a little warm in August...maybe for a week or two...but the fish will still hammer dries in the evening and morning. Gawrsh, I sure love good water years.

Those of us with the "shack nasties" had better start planning a few trips for spring. Once the warm weather hits in mid june, the run off is gonna be more intense then last year, which was intense...like camping. (get it?) :)

I predict a year of a lot of fish and a lot of big ones. I am building my own net for when I float tube and I specifically made it extra big for monster trout. There will be lots of water and I can't wait to do some ice-out back country trips. I am going much more hard core this year in the back woods I might even turn into a bear. I have really big expectations for this trout season coming up and I can not wait.
This year I will do my first solo over night and I am excited.
Why shack nasties? You need to fish new and other water, the surf has been really fun and the stripers should be here by now. But I understand the missing of the trout action.

Have a trip planned in the eastern sierras over memorial day. Hoping for some pan-sized trout.

What are good stream levels all summer, healthy fat energetic fish, mondo bug populations, and a late-ish start to the high country trout season?
You did ask for Karnak.

I think this will be my best year fishing the fly. I have about 5 years under my belt, and with the new addiction to float tubing still water I hope to find some new spots to catch that next PB. I am most looking forward to fishing the small streams this spring, love those fiesty little trout on a lite weight rod!

I predict LOTS of fishing this year... and hopefully lots of fish too. Honestly, I'm just looking forward to spending a ton of time in the mountains, rivers and canyons. Long peaceful hours spent slowly and methodically coaxing some trout to rise, seeing many colorful sunsets reflecting in the water, many nights spent sleeping under the stars, extended backpacking trips to high mountain lakes, quality time with "the family" (wife and the dogs) in the woods, and LOT, upon LOTS of learning more about this addictive sport.
I predict this will be my best year fishing... until 2012 that is :D

Up here they say only tourists, and fools predict the weather.
We've had a real winter. But warm nights and rain from Hawaii can put the hurry-up on the melt.
After 35+ years of trying to play Karnac in the Sierras, I say "fish early every year, you never know how it will go later".
But I'll go with JB. This year will be my best ever!

I predict an early spring (opening day will be blown out by runoff), large hatches of PMD's and Golden Stones, best fishing in the high country in late May and lots of thunder storms (with us flayling those 9' conductors in the air - Whoo Boy!)
