god I love the applegate.

I guess I should cite the fly just like a source in one of my humanities papers for school

go easy on him... he has to write "humanities papers"... isn't that punishment enough.

I have gone by that river many times and never during the right time it seems...but I will be there in the next month or so.
Without giving any secret spots....
Where is the general area to fish for walk/wade? Near Applegate itself (I have friends on Thompson Creek Road); Towards Murphy? Below Murphy? Below Wilderville?

I guess what I am asking is where in that are is there public access?

Thanks, and nice fish.

The middle rogue steelheaders have a 5 dollar publication that will let you know the access points on the applegate, illinios, chetco, the 3 sections of the rogue. below cantrall buckley it is few and far between, but above cantrall buckley park is another story, however it would all depend on the timing. The deadline below the dam fishes well late in march. next month? check the regs because it closes at the end of march I thought.

yep thats how I do, to bad you werent there so you could snap the shot for me. this was a matter of seconds from landing it on the bank snapping a shot and getting it back in the water as quick as possible, I really didnt have the time to pose and coordinate a photo shoot.

I am a southern oregon resident. I just recently moved to the area for school. I dont keep fish and never have, not even hatchery fish. I guess I could fish the applegate in january and early febuary but I would rather fish it when there are fish in it like late febuary and all of march. It had some chrome cheeks.

Sweet fish man....I also like that anodized red reel.

It used to be golf clubs..."oooh, I need that Callaway driver, new irons, gun metal sand wedges etc..." Now it's, "oooh, I need that reel, another 5wt....and a 6wt, and........

And I'm even worse with tying materials!!! lol.

The hoodlums came by the landromat while I was taking off my fishing uniform to wash it. They spraypainted my backside with silver spraypaint. Now I have "chrome cheeks."

Hopefully it was safely released into the brine, being a hatcherY fish. Looks like a perfect rock to use in the "chrome cheeks" shot.

I love the taste of steelhead.
