Fished today with my neighbor upstream from Canyonville. Caught and released this pretty 30", 10 pound wild steelhead.

Larry,
Rogue in Grants Pass is slow. At the start of March about 24% of the winter run is here and by the end of March about 76% has passed this area. So the next 30 days should be good assuming decent water conditions.

Gordon:
Here's hoping you get those fishy conditions throughout March. Looking forward to
your reports. To me it means good for you and good for the fish.

Beautiful bright fish, Gordon!
That fish must have rocketed upstream - it was what, at least 60 miles upstream of the ocean?
But more importantly, I'm surprised that nobody has asked the the question - you know, the elephant in the room...
... trusty bead-head nymph?
:)
cheers

Tim,
Sorry to report but it took a small glo-bug. Initially I thought I had either a trout or a smallmouth as the take was very gentle and the fish came directly to me without much resistance and then it took off with three big jumps.
