Well got my first shot at the Morro Bay surf in a while this past weekend. Needless to say it all amounted to casting practice! The sea appeared angry. My first toss of ROBS Type VI. That stuff shoots! Quick question for Charlie G or . . . When I really snap the Xi2 and add additional wrist and tighten the loop sometimes the head gets to the target before the fly and leader. This happens when I really force a double hall. Do I slow down, widen the loop and forget about the double hall?

From your description of "....when I really snap the Xi2 and add additional wrist....", indicates that when ending your front cast the rod is in the level or lower position. That effectively reduces/eliminates the power generated by the double haul just when you need it to carry out the line/leader/fly to a straight ending.
I was told by several knowledgeable casting instructors that the front cast should be stopped at a position around 2:00 o'clock. That allows the generated energy/line weight combo to continue to perform. Try it, it works quite well for me. 8)
Now the problem, for me, is to learn how to use my switch rods to make limited spey casts.

Hmmm,.... Just re-read my note and think it should read stop at 10:00 O'Clock instead of 2:00 O'clock. #-o Hope that makes more sense. :o
