Good lookin' guy. He sure has some colors doesn't he.... Almost every day, a Scrub Jay shows up in the Camelia's in my front yard. He sits in the branches outside my window. I've always accused him of staring at me.... Guess I'll have to get some photo's.... Of course, I'll have to clean the windows first.

Nice pics jbird.

Had a cool moment with a couple birds last weekend while standing in my backyard. There are a bunch of finches and other small birds where I live, all of a sudden 2 small finches go blazing over my head by about 6 inches at 100 mph. Then 2 seconds later I found out why, an osprey was chasing them, I had to duck because as it was chasing them it had to clear my head. Scared the you know what out of me, but it was so call to have happened. I love when nature presents itself that close to you. Not sure if the little ones got away or not.

Wow! Thats why I try to keep my camrea handy at all times. Not like you wouldve had time to document such a sudden event. Are you certain it was an osprey? Not common at all for them to be after other birds...or anything other than fish for that matter. Sharp shinned hawks, coopers hawks and perragrins are bird eaters. Could it have been something like that?

Darian, no need to clean the window. Just dress up like a bush with some breadcrumbs on your head. That'll get you close!

The flash of colors I saw made me think osprey, but I might have been wrong. All I know for sure is it is something that I will never forget.

Great shots, as always. Wish I could get some telephoto shots of the pelicans
riding the surf as we fish off of Torrey Pines (below the golf course.) The weight
of the gear, my age, and the climb back up that 300+ft cliff trail keep that
from being a reality. Esp like the non-eagle shot.
Keep 'em coming.

I honestly never noticed how many birds are all around me til I became interested in photographing them. Im getting a bit addicted to chasing birds/wildlife. Obviously the closer you can get the better photo result. Im not a hunter so I dont own any camo. this has been making me wanna get some. Its pretty cool sneaking up on wildlife for a photograph.

Then the fun starts all over when you pop that data stick in your computer and see if you got anything good.

The eagle here was so oblivious to my presence, I had to make noises to get him to turn his head. Just wish I had better lighting.

one more of the eagle. He was making some noise of his own.

Hi Jay.

As a lifetime bird watcher I can honestly say you don't really need camo. Just some drab clothes that kinda sorta blend in with the background. Birds(and all wildlife) key in on movement much more readily than colors and shapes. I almost got some Cedar Waxwings to land on me once just by standing still for a very long time. A few berries and I think I could have pulled it off.

Oh, that eagle knew you were there the whole time. They miss nothing. It just didn't care.

Keep 'em coming Jay, I love what you've done so far.
