Two feet of fresh snow have added to the adventure.
Access is the issue, not crowding right now.
Lower canyon (Herschdale downstream) has a bit less.
NV. side easier going.
Fishing is pretty good, and the weather has gone warmish.
A little rain yesterday settled the snow, blue sky windows have helped the melt and bug activity.
Water temp 35-39 deg. Very clear, and nice flows.
Olive mayfly #18, Midge larva/adult #22-24, Light stones #18-10,
Skwalla nymphs #10-8 making an appearance. No adults yet.
The spring "worm hatch" is happening, tan, orange, red, brown, etc.
Yellow/orange swimmer may #18-20, Baetis #22.
Stalked rising fish with dry "tandem midges" sz20 to effect.
The fish were clearly shopping the clump midge.
Soft water/edges seem to fish best.
Bring snowshoes for best mobility.
Wear an extra layer under waders for added enjoyment.
Bring an extra change of clothes too, just in case.
