Switch rods come in many sizes now.

#4 is mostly for medium to larger trout streams.

#5 is good for trout and light steelhead like Half-pounders.

#6 is good for larger trout water and light Steelhead - number one selling size

#7 is for more serious Steelheaders that fish year round and use larger heavier flies in the winter on smaller Steelhead rivers.

#8 is for serious winter steelheading and surf and rivers for Stripers, etc.

Switch rods are fun and practical.

This spring we will have a Saturday on the river where we have some spey guys out demonstrating with Switch rods that people can try out too.

Usually in march/April/May we have a spring run of small to medium size fresh Steelhead that feed on fry and insects. this will be a smokin' switch rod time and after that it will be time for the Shad run in May/June!!!!
