Summer Run Steelhead on the Deschutes River

The Deschutes River is one of the greatest rivers in the West; the river is blessed with fish, wildlife and dramatic scenery. The Deschutes River is the main drainage for the Eastern side of the Cascade Mountain Range that runs through the heart of the state of Oregon. The river collects water from majestic rivers like the Metolious and Crooked River. As the Deschutes sprints north towards the Columbia River the river flows through arid high desert plains. The Deschutes enters a scenic canyon full of spectacular wildlife, wild flowers and canyon waterfalls. Redside rainbows abound and summer run Steelhead cannot resist a swinging fly.

The Drift
We start in early morning drifting from Mack’s Canyon towards the Columbia River. The 4 day 3 nights Steelhead Drift will cover 24 miles of prime steelhead water. We stay in two different campsites on the drift down the river, one campsite for two nights and the second campsite for one night. The campsites are awesome. Accommodations are great, with tents for two furnished with cots, solar showers and restrooms on site. We will have two guides and one camp host/chief/bagger to ferry our gear from camp to camp and cook all of our wonderful meals.
The drift will includes fantastic scenic canyon walls, cascading waterfalls, wildlife from turkey to deer and a little white water action to make our hearts pump. It is truly a beautiful river that is home to Steelhead.
