apple/mac ??

We looking at get a refurbished Mac from here . What would you recommend for using for photography and genealogy , that will be its main use . We will keep our other computer we have down stares for just about everything else . Also what would you recommend as far as photo-shop ?? I have a canon 5d with a large censor but have no way of shooting raw or using photo-shop at the moment . I don't need the fanciest version of photo-shop as i will not use 80% of it . would like to shoot raw or even use Tiff . I can only use large JPG with what i have now . I know i am not getting the full use of my camera with what i have .

I don't know anything about hard drives, memory or anything . Looking to spend around 1200 ton 1500 . From the list below what would you recommend ? A larger screen would be nice , the one i have now is 12''
