Dear Friends,

Happy New Year and Best Wishes for 2011!

The Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club (GGACC) is proud to announce the Jimmy Green International Spey-O-Rama 2011, which will be held on April 15 - 17, 2011 at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park Casting Ponds and Anglers' Lodge. GGACC is devoted to introducing everyone to fly casting and angling at their historical club and facility.

We are now in the 8th year for the event, which is open to the public and admittance is free. We generally have more than 100 people each day attend Spey-O-Rama and it is a very fun and exciting event.

We would like to invite you to participate as a competitor, or as a manufacturer/vendor to showcase your fly fishing equipment and be one of the sponsors in this international spey casting and fly fishing event by donating your equipment towards the event cost or casting competition prizes, or sponsor a dinner. There is no fee to exhibit your products at Spey-O-Rama.

Local and International casting masters will be offering free demonstrations and clinics each day. We will also feature spey casting echniques with both two-hand and single hand rods, and presentations on fly fishing destinations. The world’s best men and women casters will participate in the Spey Casting Competitions on Saturday and Sunday.

The schedule for the Spey-O-Rama in 2011 is:

April 15: Exhibits, Competition Casting Practice
April 16: Exhibits; Spey Demonstrations/Clinics/Fly Fishing Destination
Presentations, Competition Qualifying Round
April 17: Exhibits; Spey Casting Competition Final

Please visit http://www.speyorama.com/ for the latest information, schedule, and competition rules. Competition rules will be the same as in 2010.

For information about the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club, please visit our website at: http://www.ggacc.org/

I have attached the invitation and registration/sponsor form and we look forward to receiving your registration/sponsorship confirmation as soon as possible, so we can publicize your sponsorship of the event.

Please email your completed registration form to info@Spey-O-Rama.com, or mail to the address listed on the form. Your generous donations should be shipped to the same address on the registration form.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need more information about Spey-O-Rama.
I look forward to your participation and welcome you to Spey-O-Rama 2011 in San Francisco!

Sincerely,
Donna O'Sullivan

It is this coming weekend.

April 15 - 17, 2011 at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park Casting Ponds and Anglers' Lodge

I will be going down there on Sunday with John Hogg.

If you have any interest in two-handed casting it is a great event.

Pretty cool to just see the old Golden Gate casting ponds and lodge facility.

Who's going? I think I might try and go Saturday just for fun, especially if one or more guys want to car pool. It'll get me motivated to attend!

Fridays @ Speyorama, are like being a kid in Santa's workshop with all of his elves there and wanting to help you or discuss anything re Spey casting.

Most Spey Rod/line manufacturers are there. You can use their equipment for free and often get one on one personal guidance from the manufacturers or the pros attending the event.

I have picked up rods, I have ordered, which were made by Gary Anderson or Bob Meiser, and found the lines that matched the rods and me. Last year Steve Godshall sliced and diced a his combo line for my Death Star. His line has not left the reel attached to the Death Star. For many of us finding the correct match of line with our Death Stars has been a challenge.

One warning if you have a new rod and find the right line and terminal gear, be prepared for others to borrow it to try the combo. Often the ones wanting to try it are pros/contestants at the event. Of course you can learn from them while they cast it.

Two years ago, Rio matched my new Gary Anderson ZA 6126 with the correct AFS Head. Bob Pauli helped me to determine which Rio Spey Leader to use. The rod/line/leader combo got passed around from caster to caster most of the day. The same thing happened with my Death Star and Steve's customized line for it, last year.

Gerard Downey #1 Men's Division
Whitney Gould #1 Women's Division
Simon Hsieh placed #8 in the finals- a mere 47' (four cast total) less than the #1 caster!
Relatively windless conditions for Golden Gate Casting and Angling Club site provided cumulative total and best cast stats that are off the charts...
Thanks to all competitors, our hosts, GGACC, and the vendors who participated!!!
What a show!
Don
