I noticed the flows on the Lower Yuba are down to 3,000 cfs, which should be OK for fishing, but Deer Creek is still at ~250 cfs. Does that mean continued muddy water?

Am hoping to try it this weekend.

Thanks in advance,

Harlan

Fished above the Hwy 20 bridge yesterday afternoon when the flows were around 3800. Visibility was around 2 foot and greenish not muddy. Tried out a new switch rod with some large leaches for an hour without any success. No surface action at all. Hope this helps.

Going out tomorrow to try out some flies I tied. Some friends had some success early this week on copper johns.

When looking at flows on the Yuba and Deer Creek it is important to remember proportions. If the release out of the dam is high then that will filter out the dirty water of a high Deer Creek. But once Deer Creek gets big then to fish it you need additional flow on the Yuba or it will blow out. 500 cfs is big for Deer Creek. However if the Yuba is at 1000 cfs then then Deer Creek needs to be under 100.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, guys. I think I'll give it a try on Monday. Retirement is good.

Thanks again.

Floated the River on Friday. we managed about 15 hook ups. Flow is big and visibility is about 1-2" kinda mocha brown. I would say wading is tough but if you know some high water spots you should be fine.
