I have for sale a Teton #3 reel. This is from the original Teton company - not TetonUSA that is in existence now. Unfortunately, the original Teton Reel Company was a victim of the great recession.
The reel was purchased around the mid-1990s. Teton made these reels in the Sierra Foothills in San Andreas, CA. These reels were one of the early aluminum barstock machined reels at a reasonable price. Similar to J.Ryall at the time only lighter in weight. Diameter is 2 ½ in. Perfect for a 2, 3 or shorter 4wt rod.
It’s got a beautiful slate blue anodized finish. This was the higher end model than the Tioga, which came later. I have two others in a larger size that I use on 5 weights that have never given me any trouble. The drag is very smooth, similar to Ryall reel. I never used this one much. Unfortunately, when I did use it I took a spill and left it with two nicks on the frame (shown). A few very minor scrapes on the reel foot as well. The flaws are cosmetic only, and otherwise the reel is in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect mechanical condition.
This reel deserves a very special rod! You may never see another original Teton like it again.
