Hi Rob

Don't get to much weight in that boat if you can help it.

Like very thick plywood.....etc

We love those Jon boats.....

Bill , i am going to add aluminum diamond plate instead of wood , very light and will not hold water/ice . Only going to have a Evenrude 8 hp 2 stroke for now , and will see how it does . The area we will be hunting has a no wake rule so HP is not necessary , but i may get a 15 Hp next summer if needed . Everything is frozen over again , so there is NO open water and may not be for a while . So i am still waiting for the maiden voyage . Plenty of time to get my boat it shape .

here is what i have , The Yamaha G3 1442

There was a lot of flex on the sides , the bottom had two repaired cracks that i could not see while the boat was on the trailer . The center ribs do not come up the side allowing the sides to flex . The sides flex right to the welds and i didn't think the hull or welds would last . A guy in town is coming Tuesday to see the boat . He owns a welding shop and he may want the boat . If he decides its worth repairing and rebuilding i will take a trade . his welding skills for the boat . I need my trailer lengthened and brackets welded on the sides . If its not repairable and safe i will scrap the boat . Not going to sell a unsafe boat . I didn't feel it would be safe to use the boat loaded decoys and my boys . When duck hunting in the morning you leave the ramp a hour or more before sunrise and many times in below freezing temps and going through a thin layer of ice . My new boat is made of heavier aluminum , the center ribs go up the sides and the back end of the boat is boxed in and very well supported in the transom area .
