I have not done very much fly fishing this year and just a little photography . More into hunting since i moved here to N. Utah . GODS COUNTRY !! But i though i would post about a great little camera . It takes great HD video and good still photos , and is waterproof to 10' . I just got it for filming our duck hunts . 129.00 at Wal Mart .

Great reviews and so far i am very impressed with mine

YEP i am very impressed !!! I just replaced the 4 GB with a 16 MB Sandisk card ( should have got it on ebay 1/2 price ) , and my camera was set at 720p 60 fps , will the image stabilization on . The 720/60 frames setting is wonderful and no need to have it set at HD 1080 30 fps setting , it can be a little blurry and choppy .

That was a nice piece of video, Rob. I've been considering getting an Optio waterproof, I'm going to have to check out that Kodak now.

RobK,

Wow impressive HD video. I was thinking of getting a different HD like the lumix but I think this (for the price and all) is awesome.

Phil I don't think any of the Optios have HDvideo, I have one and it shoots fantastic photos for a point and shoot( Rarely take my D70 out of it's bag anymore) and it does well underwater. The video quality is very amateur compared to Robk shots.

I am tempted to get this one as the price is right and use it just for movies.

Craig.

:o:o My bad, i've been considering the Optio just for still shots. But if the Kodak takes stills that match it's video quality.....I have another option.:)

For the price you can't beat this camera . i would make sure you have at least a 16mb card . The 4 GB card didn't work as good as the 16 does . Here is a video of me shooting my Ruger 77/22 mag . I am shooting at a 6' steel disk at both 150 and 200 yards . You can see how sharp the camera is even though i was not using the IS mode and had a 4 GB card in it . Also you can hear the bullet strike the steel disk . But the video out of the duck boat, i was using the IS mode , the 16 GB card and it worked a lot better .IMO

In this video i am holding it up against the my eye peace of a 20- 45 x Redfield spotting scope , I am checking out a flock of Gadwal at about a half a mile out from my truck . I wanted to make sure they were ducks and not coots . :) Again i am impressed at how sharp it is even through the spotting scope . Be sure to make it full screen so you cans see what this camera can do .

Rob,

You have almost made up my mind to get the camera but one last Question.

Can you do any type of zooming? Not looking for a super zoom, just a little bit to compose photos a little better. Or is it a fixed lens.

Thanks again and keep posting photos of your beautiful area.

IT has a fixed lens , you can zoom digitally and it does ok up close , not like a lens would do . I wanted a nice little water proof HD camera , that also takes stills . I have a small digital camera that takes great stills , but so so movies . Its hard to find a small '' inexpensive'' waterproof camera that does both really well , this one is as close as you can get for the money IMO .
