Scott V. and I took a cruise around the port yesterday looking for a tug, among the pontoon boat, flotilla of kayaks, prams, fishing boats, and a couple of seal lions.....Scott caught 1 small striper, and i caught a crappie on a 6 inch striper flie. The weekend crowd was bad enought, but a couple of seals working the port will shut the fishing off in a heart beat.
In between the red hot actions hahaha, we ran across this interesting house boat, it look's like something that you would see in Sausalito. It was setting in the mud, in a bay next to the turning basin, and i was wontering if anyone know's anything about this house boat???

It must have spilled out with the ballast water from a freighter from China. Talk about an invasive species..... sheesh.

That thing has been in the port for probably 30+ years. Don't know what it is for, but Bill may know since he was in the rod, gun, and bait business in West Sacto many, many years ago.

Many years ago, around late 60's and early 70's this building was used to lay up steel framed cement hull sail boats. I know it sounds stange but it is true. I saw many come out of their ready for finishing. As I recall.....probably wrong, there was some sort of scam or misrepresentation of the product and they closed the doors.

Thanks for your input
Are you sure about this....the patio deck and the back doors are not very big....and there's a outrigger on both sides of this barge, to help stabilize the barge from rocking....it looks like someone art project house boat from sausalito.

Maybe it could be the new "Kiene's BB floating clubhouse"?

Kinda looks like a floating combination bait shop and cat house right out of one of Ray Stevens songs....

Lois Wolk proposed a bill last year that would've resulted in clean up/removal of vessels like that one. Someone in her office would undoubtedly know what the history of that one is.... :-k

The Delta is a regional, state, and national treasure. Its unique combination
of estuary, water supply, recreation and tourism, aesthetics, lifestyle, and
rural character make it a special place that we must recognize and protect.

Pictures or it didn't happen. Be careful, and keep an eye out for Kevin Costner and his merry band of Waterworld characters.
